TOWNSWOMEN’S GUILD AT BECKENHAM
Four new members were welcomed at the annual general meeting of the Beckenham Townswomen’s Guild by Mrs B. Hayes. The report showed a satisfactory position. Circle reports were read by Mrs W. Grenfell (area), Mrs A. Thomson (gardening), Mrs C. Ironside (civic), Mrs A. Botten (arts and crafts), Mrs R. Allison (choir), and Mrs Wright (drama). Mrs Wright read an interesting letter from the link guild at Tolworth, England. , Arrangements were made to man a corner for the Tuberculosis Association’s appeal on March 23. Songs were sung by Mrs Whitehead, who was accompanied by Mrs C. Richards.
Officers elected were:—president. Mrs B. Hayes; vice-presidents, Mrs Clephane and one still io be elected; honorary secretary, Mrs W. Grenfell; honorary treasurer, Mrs J. Steinmetz; committee, Mesdames Moir, Lester, Sollitt, Hill, Grieve, Reed, Logan and Thomson; reporter, Mrs L. H. McCalman; auditor, Mr Brough. Prizes awarded for the year were:— general. Mrs Jackson 1, J. Steinmetz 2, Walker 3. Arts and crafts, Mrs Sollitt 1, J. Steinmetz 2, Davies 3. Gardening: class A. Mrs Heywood 1; class B, Mrs M. C. Hall 1. Best bloom, Mrs Heywood.
