SEARCH FOR PRISONERS
MISSING CAR FOUND AT DUNEDIN REMOVAL FROM EAST EYRSTON (New Press Association) DUNEDIN, March 21. A car that was taken on Thursday evening from East Eyreton. about 14 miles from Paparua Prison, was discovered by the Dunedin police tonight in Forth street, where it is believed to have been parked since Saturday. It is considered probable that the car was brought to Dunedin by the three prisoners who escaped from Paparua Prison on Thursday afternoon. The car belongs to Mr Cherry, of Eyreton, and was in good condition when it was found in Forth street It was apparently undamaged, and was locked. The police had some trouble in opening it before driving it to the police station yard. The number plates had been changed, and residents in Forth street did not suspect that there was anything unusual about the car. The number plates on the car when it was found came from a car belonging to a resident of Waunate. In the boot of the car were two suitcases containing various articles of clothing, ana there was also some food. It is believed that these articles may have been stolen from Leeston. although this has not been established. The escaped prisoners are Clifford William James Hoyne, aged 25, James Williamson, aged 30, and John Stanley Finnell, aged 26. They are serving periods of reformative detention for three, four, and two years respectively. It is possible that the men are not still together.
