Fifth Coelacanth Caught.— A female coelacanth—the pre-historic “fish with hands”—carrying more than 80 eggs, has been caught off the island of Anjouan in the Indian Ocean. The fish is the fifth to be caught in the region. Before the recent discoveries, scientists believed the coelacanth: which lived in the sea in large numbers 50,000,000 years ago, to be virtually extinct—Tananarive (Madagascar), March 19.
