WOMEN’S DIVISION OF FEDERATED FARMERS

Styx.—The February meeting of the Styx branch of the women’s Division of Federated Farmers was held last week in the Papanui Returned Services’ Association hall, with a good attendance. Mrs H. Rule presided. After business matters were dealt with, the following results of the monthly competitions were announced Cooking: Mrs F. Spencer 1. Mrs H. Marsh 2, Mrs G. Stirling 3. Sewing: Mrs Griffiths 1, Mrs C. Smith 2, Mrs H. Marsh 3. Single bloom: Mrs R. Bach and Mrs Griffiths (equal) 1, Mrs May Rood 3. Cluster: Mrs Spencer 1, Mrs C. Smith 2, Mrs R. Chapman and Mrs R. Off ord (equal) 3. Floral carpet: Mrs C. Smith 1, Mrs F. Spencer 2, MS-s R. Chapman and Mrs R. Offord (equal) 3. Kaiapoi.—Mrs / Candy presided at the monthly meeting of the Kaiapoi Country Women’s Institute. Miss Gerome Spencer, founder of the New Zealnad Women’s Institutes, wrote thanking the institute fir the top tier of the twenty-first birthday cake. Best wishes were received from the link in Vinfield, England. A duet by Mesdames Hall and Pearce was much appreciated. Mrs SoWden gave an interesting demonstration on floral work. There was a good attendance of delegates at the February meeting of the Canterbury District Committee of Country Girls’ Clubs. Final arrangements for a combined sports day to be held at Willowby were made. The chairman gave a report on the inaugural meeting of the HawardenWakari Club, which a number of members attended.
