WAINONI PARK SOLD

PURCHASE BY CITY COUNCIL

20 ACRES FOR HOUSE SITES

At a price of £20,000, Wainoni ParL of 20 acres 2 roods 22 perches, with the house and appurtenant buildings, will be bought by the City Council. The land will be developed and subdivided for Luilding sites. The council’s offer for the whole of the land has been accepted by the owner, Mr H. H. Cook. The terms of the sale provide for vacant possession to be given on April 1 next, when the purchase price will be paid in cash. Mr Cook will have the right to remove before April 1 improvements comprising stables, feed boxes, harness room, store shed and yard fences. Negotiations for the sale of the property have been under way for a long time between Mr Cook and also the Government.

Cr. L. G. Amos said he thought the price was too high. Cr. C. Baldwin (chairman of the housing committee) said the council would “come out all right.”
