ANOTHER POOR RACE AT WESTPORT

GAY POLKA OUTCLASSES FIELD “The Press” Special Service WESTPORT, February 22. The first trotting event on the second day of the Westport Jockey Club’s meeting today was very similar to those of the opening day, although there were no accidents.

Gay Polka, which, fell in the Charleston Handicap yesterday, shot out from the start, and the result was not afterward in doubt. Gay Polka jogged past the post to win by about 20 lengths—the official margin was 12 lengths—from Felicity, Blink Bonnie, apd Warranty. The others were right out of the race over the finishing stages. The Anniversary Trot Handicap was a much better race, but the finish was confined to three of the handicapped horses. Felicity just held on to beat Captain Denis, which finished fast with the consistent Warranty holding off Gay Polka for third. The others were a long way back.
