NEW ENGINEERING SCHOOL
DELAY IN BUILDING CRITICISED
Concern at “slow progress” with the scheme for improving the National School of Engineering at Canterbury University College and the Auckland School of Engineering was expressed in a resolution carried at the annual conference of the New Zealand Institution of Engineers yesterday. The institution promised its full support to the college councils in Christchurch and Auckland in their endeavours to complete plans for improving the engineering schools. Mr G. S. J. Read, of the Railways Department, Wellington, said the institution should be gravely concerned over the inadequate provision in New Zealand for training engineers. Training facilities were not keeping pace with the demand for engineering services essential to the progress of the Dominion.
