POSTS IN WOOL SECRETARIAT
NO APPOINTMENTS YET MADE (Rec 12.10 a.m.) MELBOURNE, Februaiv 22. The appointment of a directorgeneral to the International Wool Secretariat has been deferred, but no indication has been given when the appointment will again be considered. The executive of the International Wool Publicity and Research Fund executive announced today merely that none of the candidates on a panel submitted by the Australian Wool Bureau had been appointed to the position.
There were three names on the panel, but only one—that of Dr. W. A. Westerman, assistant-secretary to the Federal Department of Commerce and Agriculture—has been publicly mentioned. When his name was first published, there were objections in some wool quarters to the appointment of a Government official to the position. The executive also deferred the appointment of a deputy directorgeneral. It announced that the post of manager of the United Kingdom branch of the secretariat would be advertised and applicants interviewed during the executive's annual meeting in London beginning on May 26.
