Eden Leaves For Bangkok
(Rec. 10 p.m.) LONDON, February 19. Sir Anthony Eden left London for Bangkok to attend the conference of the eight-Power South-east Asian Treaty Council. He will spend tonight in Rome and fly on tomorrow to Cairo for brief talks with the Egyptian Prime Minister (Colonel Gamal Abdel Nasser). After staying overnight in Karachi, Sir Anthony Eden will arrive in Bangkok on Tuesday. Sir Anthony Eden’s journey will cover 16,000 mlies and take him to nine capitals before he returns to London on March 6.
The “Evening News” says that Britain may even ask the United States for permission to use Eniwetok. The scientists are also considering Antarctica, says the newspaper. There is a possibility that the Commonwealth expedition setting out to cross Antarctica next year will find a place suitable for H-bomb experiments.
