ATTEMPTED RAPE CHARGE
CONSTABLE FOUND NOT GUILTY
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, February 4. A jury in the Supreme Court today found Selby James Carroll, aged 21. a temporary police constable, not guilty of a charge of attempted rape. Carroll was also found not guilty on alternative charges of assault with intent to commit rape, and of indecent assault.
Mr Justice Turner presided at the trial, and the Crown case was conducted by Sir William Cunningham. MrDßrek Castle appeared for Carroll. The Court was cleared during the hearing of the indictments, and at the end of the evidence, the jury visited the scene of the alleged offence.
