DULL TRADE BUT PRICES FIRM

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. Feb. 4. “Although trade has been dull all the week, prices have ruled firm for light supplies of Home-killed and Irish beef.” states a cablegram received from its London office by the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board. The message continues: “Moderate pitching* of Argentine chilled beef sold readily, hinds at 2s sd-2s 6d, and fores at Is Bd-ls 9d. An ample supply of frozen beef cleared slowly, hinds Is 7d-ls Bd, and fores at Is 4d-ls sd. “Mutton was quiet but steady* with a better inquiry for light ewes. There was a moderate demand for lambs, with values slightly easier.” The board says that the following are the ruling prices of wholesale quantities of meat, and are for representative parcels sold during the current week. These prices compiled by the Imported Meat Trade Association are on the basis of exstore, London, for frozen meat. New Zealand Sheep
