At the same time more than two-thirds of her Increase in car exports went to Australia and New Zealand. The total British output was 1,038,834 vehicles, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders announced today. This was made up of 709,165 cars and 269,869 commercial vehicles, which together bettered the 1933 figure by more than 200,000. Cars alone have recently been produced at a rate of one every 10 seconds of the working day. Motor industry exports generally earned the all-time record sum of £340,000,000 or £16,000,000 better than in the previous peak year of 1952.
