CHILDREN’S COURT
VARIED LIST OF CASES During last month the Children’s Court, Christchurch, presided over by Mr Raymond Ferner, S.M., Mrs T. Green, and Mr W. C. Colee, dealt with the following cases:— Three boys (two aged 16 years and one aged 15 years) were each fined £2 for setting off fireworks in a public place. Three boys (aged 12 years, 14 years and 15 years) were admonished and discharged, and ordered to make restitution of £3 6s 8d each when they appeared before the Court charged with wilful damage by breaking 11 panes of glass. Two brothers (aged 10 years and 14 years) were placed under the supervision of a Child Welfare Officer for 12 months, when they were charged with breaking, entering and stealing food and money. Two boys (aged 12 years and 14 years) were charged with the theft of money (recovered) and a tennis racket Each was placed under supervision for one year. Two boys (aged 11 years and 13 years) were admonished and discharged for stealing a number of budgerigars. For carrying a pillion passenger on a motor-cycle restricted to “L” plates, a youth of 16 years was fined £l. For having no silencer on his motorcycle, a youth of 16 years was fined £3. A youth of 16 years appeared before the Court charged with being on licensed premises and for disorderly behaviour. He was fined a total of £4.
For using offensive language to a policeman, t a youth of 16 years was fined £2.
