ADVICE TO AIR TRAVELLERS
Umbrellas For Sydney And Auckland
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, January 19. Travellers visiting Sydney, Auckland, London, and Colombo are advised in a 40-page booklet on wardrobe hints issued today by the British Overseas Airways Corporation to take an umbrella with them. In Bombay, the booklet says, umbrellas can be bought very cheaply, and during a monsoon goloshes are advisable. The 8.0.A.C. has another warning to offer—that women travellers visiting some places in the Middle East and other countries, including Portugal, Bermuda, and Japan, will be “frowned on” if they wear shorts. The booklet, which is to be issued to travel agents throughout the world, contains not only hints on what clothes travellers should take to various parts of the globe, but information as well on climate and shopping, laundry and dry-cleaning facilities.
