New German Air Chief

General Adolf Galland, aged 42, the jvar-time commander of the Luftwaffe's fighter forces, has been nominated officially as chief of the new West German Air Force, says the “News Chronicle.’’ General Galland flew in the Battle of Britain and shot down 96 Allied planes.
He is returning from Argentina to take up the new post. For five years he has been adviser to the Argentine Air Ministry.,
