CHURCH DESTROYED BY FIRE
75-YEAR-OLD BUILDING NEAR THAMES (New Zealand Press Association) THAMES, December 14. The 75-year-old St. Brigid’s Roman Catholic Church at Grahamstown was razed early this morning. Originally opened as a boys’ school, the church was in its heyday during the gold rush. In later years it was used only occasionally, the main services being held m St. Francis’ Church, which is to be replaced soon. It was intended to use St. Brigid’s during the No electric power was installed. Police are investigating the fire.
