Canada Decides On Increase
(Rec. 9 p. m .) OTTAWA, Dec. 13. The Canadian Government had derided to increase its Colombo Plan aid by 1.000,000 dollars next year to 26.400.000 dollars, the Canadian press reported today. At a conference in Ottawa last October. the Asian receiving countries appealed* to the Western donor countries for more aid.
The Canadian press said that a highranking Canadian diplomat had proposed to increase of 10 times the approved 1,000,000 dollars, but it was Pored by Treasury officials, who had *o cope with the possibility of a Canarian budgetary deficit this year, and Pebbly next. .The increase would be provided for “ the 1955-56 Budget, the report said. In addition to Canada, contributing Colombo Plan Powers include the United States, Britain, Australia, and New Zealand.
