MINOR FIRES
’ The Christchurch Fire Brigade was called twice on Saturday to an extentensive gorse fire in Scott’s estate. Huntsbury avenue. The first call, at 19.21 am., was answered by units from Sydenham and Central stations: slight damage was done to some standing pine trees. The Sydenham 'brigade answered the second call, at p m., when the fire broke out again. There was no further damage. - The only other call received on Saturday was at 5.55 p.m., to 119 Heaton street, the property of Mr Alexander Lick, where a tar pot was on fire. A unit from the St. Albans station responded At 2 p.m. yesterday a call was received to the property of Mr Thomas Kelly at 6 Flowers track. Scarborough, where there was a rubbish fire. This call was answered by units from Sumner and Woolston. No damage was done when rubbish caught fire on a vacant section at the corner of Bexley and Pages roads, owned by the Christchurch Transport Board, at 9.19 p.m. yesterday. One unit from New Brighton went to the fire.
