SURF LIFESAVING
NEW BRIGHTON CLUB A large crowd attended the opening of the New Brighton Surf Life-Saving Club’s season yesterday. A team from H.M.N.Z.S. Black Prince performed very well to win the six-man rescue and resuscitation event. Teams from North Beach and South Brighton also competed. The weather was fine and the surf moderate. Results:— Beach Relay.—New Brighton A 1, North Beach 2, New Brighton B 3. Six-man Rescue and Resuscitation. — Navy, 53.43 points, 1; New Brighton, 53.25, 2; South Brighton. 53.03, 3. Junior Surf Race.—B. Robertson 1, T. Graham 2, T. Jacobs 3. Senior Surf Race.—G. Harris (New Brighton) and A. Lee (South Brighton) (equal) 1, P. Breach (New Brighton) 3, T. Logan (Navy) 4.
