State Dinner Given By President
(Rec. 8 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Nov. 4. Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, arriving in Washington today, described President Eisenhower as a Seat military commander and a true end of the British people. The Queen Mother travelled from New York in President Eisenhower s personal plane for a six-day private visit to the United States capital Greeted by Mr John Foster Dulles, the Secretary of State, and other high officials, the Queen Mother said: ‘ I thank you, Mr Secretary, for your kind welcome. . , “I am delighted to be in this beautiful city once again, for I have such happy memories of my stay here m 1939 with the King, and of the wondetful hospitality which we received on that occasion. I know, too, how greatly tty daughter, the Queen, enjoyed her visit with the Duke of Edinburgh, to Jour capital city three years ago.*’ Tonight Her Majesty Was honoured •t a State dinner given by President •nd Mrs Eisenhower in the big green-®nd-goid State diningroom of the White House, attended by more than the Queen Mother was entertained by a programme of light music at a reception in the east room, yhich is used for State receptions and balk- There the dinner guests were joined by the ambassadors of the BritCommonwealth and their wives, the Justices of the Supreme Court, and Rttminent members of the White Hou*e staff.
