POINTS FROM OTHER ELECTION LETTERS
“Riduculus Mus” predicts that in tha n ew Parliament the National Parte will have 39 seats, the Labour Party 31, and the Social Credit Political League 10. The writer suggests that the league will be prepared to help the Labour Party to oust the National Party if the Labour Party will grant the league the means and opportunity to test its principles “Kiwi” writes: “Dairy farmers would! be extremely foolish to be led astray by any promises to support their industry made by Mr Nash. Contributions to the pool funds were levied by the Labour Party when the industry most needed money for development,! In point of fact, the Labour Parte’s whole policy was little removed from the Soviet's plan of ‘collectivism.’ It should also be remembered that Mr Nash much admired this plan, when he visited Russia early in Labour’s period oi office. On the other .hand Mr Holland has given the dairy farmers freedom and security.” *ui -t { n ?a let 0 Work ? writes: ’T do not think the promise bf the leader of the Social Credit Political League to abolish the means test for the age benfit is fair to those age beneficiaries who have no other income and are not able to earn a little-extra. Many men over 60 years of age are working and getting high wages, many retired farmers among them, who do not need the -age benefit and are already acting universal superannuation. Are they to collect that as well as the £5 a week benefit?”
