MEN FOR METHODIST MINISTRY
RECORD NUMBER OF ORDIN ANDS Thirteen men who have completed their theological training have been received for ordination to the full ministry of the Methodist Church—a record for any one year. This was announced at the annual conference of toe Methodist Church of New Zealand yesterday. The men are: Messrs O. M. Olds, L J. Ruck. D. W. Edmonds, L. J. Gibson, J. A. Penman, I. W. Reid, H. I. Shaw. S. J. Spindler, J. H. Thompson, G. R. Trebilco, G. G. Carter, E. R. le Couteur and A. W. McKay. Candidates for toe ministry were received for training aS follows: Messrs G. D. Brough, W. 8. Gilbert, F. G. Glen, R. J. Hamlin and E. R. Eight theological students, who had finished their college training, were passed for church appointments. The secretary of the board of examination (the Rev. Howard Matthews) told the conference that there was likely to be an acute shortage of men for the ministry within the next two years, in spite of the present favourable, position.
