NEW METHODIST PRESIDENT
REV. C. O. HAILWOOD
The Rev. C. O. Hailwood, minister of St. John's Methodist Church, Nelson, was elected president of the Methodist Church of New Zealand for 1955 at the opening session of the annual Methodist conference at the Durham street Methodist Church, Christchurch, last evening. The Rev. H. L. Fiebig, o\ church was the retiring presid.. Bom in Huntly and educated- at .Hamilton, Mr Hailwood entered the service of the Post and Telegraph Department after leaving school. He entered the ministry or the Methodist Church in 1928 after three years spent at the Dunholme Theological College, Auckland.
Mr Hailwood was official Methodist representative from New Zealand at the second assembly of the World Council of Churches, held at Evanston recently. In the course of his ministry, Mr Hailwood has served at the Kensington Methodist Church (Timaru), the Maranui Church (Wellington), Hokitika, Stratford, the Edgeware Road Church (Christchurch), Feilding, and Nelson.
