CASHMERE BUS SERVICES
Sir, —Congratulation* to the Transport Board fop introducing comfortable buses to replgee trams, which were a disgrace to the city But what about improving the service oa Cashmere Hills? Criticism i* rife. A popular and therefore a paying alteration would be to run alternative services to the Takahe termjap*, by way of Hackthome road and return via Dyers Pass road. The next hills bus could go by way of Dyers Pass road to the Takahe and return via Hacktborne road. Dyers Pass road is not too narrow for Transport Board buses. If private enter, prise were operating the buses this route .would be in use now.—Yours, CASHMERE NO. 1. October 19. 1954. [Mr J. F. Fardell, general manager Of the Christchurch Transport Board, said in his reply to this letter; “It is not intended to extend the route beyond the present terminal point <n Dyers Pass road, as the road condition is not suitable for buses at the present time beyond the grass reserve. In the near future an increase in the frequency on Hackthorne road will be made”]
