INVITATION FROM AUSTRALIA "The Press’* Special Service WELLINGTON. November 2. An invitation from Australia to send a team there during the 1856-57 season was received at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Women’s Cricket Association. It was decided to confer with Australia to see whether the England to Australia and New Zealand tour could take place in 1956-37, with New Zealand sending a team to Australia in 1988. Auckland, Wellington, and Canterbury were directely represented at the meeting .and Otago and Nelson by resident delegates. Southland was granted reaffiliation, after being in recess for several years. Officers elected were:— Patroness, Lady Norrie; president, Dame Elizabeth Gilmer; vice-presidents, Miss T. Sew Hoy (Otago), Mesdames D. Simons Russell Wanterburyh M. Fotiki (Wellington); chairman, mta J. Foutter; secretary, Miss J. Stone!!; treasurer, Mrs I. Lamason; recording secretary, Mrs M. RESULTS FROM NORTH CANTERBURY The following were .the results of matches played in the North Canterbury Cricket Association’s competitions on Saturday:— Senior.—Rangiora beat Stewart’s Gully by 51 runs. Scores: Rangiora 237, Stewart’s Gully 105 (Dyer 10, Jolly 10, Stead 20, Steere 25) and 81 (jolly 28, Cosgrove 21, Cahill 11). For Rangiora, W. Snellex took five for 50, and H. Snellex four for 37 in the first innings, and in the second innings W. Snellex took three for 15, H. StoeUex four for 19, and Fully two for Senior B.—Swannanoa 157 (Carpenter 38, McHugh 18, Frizzell 59, McMillan 16, A M. O Loughlin 12) drew with Southbrook two for 146 (Morris 37, M. Hills 20, Barnes not out 47, D. Hills not out 32). For Southbrook, Burney took three for 10. Eyreton 146 (Phillips 39, Bennett 45, Eder 28, Giles 13) and six for 58 (Bennett 19, Adams 11) beat Rangiora 73 (Duffell 31, O’Connell 15, Morris not out 18) and six for 54 (Pearson not out 16, Irving not out 11, Withers 15) on the first innings. For Rangiora, Morris took four for 47, Duffell three for 7, and Pearson three for 22, and for Eyreton, Bailey took three for 31, Merrin three for 19, Giles two for 8, and Eder two for 17, Junior.—Rangiora High School 127 (Male not out 75, Waugh 17, Dailey 13) beat Kaiapoi 109 (H. Hopkins 19, Robb 26, R. Hopkins 28). For Rangiora High School, Maitland took two for 25, Ivory four for 24, and Templeton two for 13. For Kaiapoi, Kimber took three for 22 and Pearce four for 24,

Ohoka 178 (Pearce 25, Frampton 75, Scott 11, Jarman 28, Martin 17) beat Cust 50 (R. Fidler 10, Burt not out 11). For Cust, R. Fidler took two for 38 and Burt two for 9. For Ohoka, Waters took four for 7, Jarman two for 20, and Cossar two for 14.

ELLESMERE-PENINSULA TEAM FOR SUNDAY

The following team will represent Elles-mere-Banks Peninsula Combined against Ashburton on. Sunday at <Tai TapuG. Rawstron, R. Collins, E. Kitching, G. Frampton. R. Gillett, J. Dixon, E. Turner, D. Commins 13). In the senior B competition, Rangiora High School Old Boys 102 for three declared (Ramsey 16, Webb 30, Scherger 45) beat Loburn 81 (H. Hamilton 15, R. Hamilton 15, Telford 10, Law 13).
