NOISY RECEPTION FOR MINISTER
MR SULLIVAN HECKLED IN WELLINGTON (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, November 3. In one of the noisiest election meetings of the present campaign, a group o* about half-a-dozen waterside workers and other opponents of the Government heckled the Minister of Labour (Mr W. Sullivan) when he spoke in support of the National Party candidate for Wellington Central (Mr D. A. Highet). Four policemen were on duty intne hall in Vivian street, and at one stage all four were moving about the hall and speaking to the most persistent interjectors. No-one was put out. Half-way through the meeting, a
woman, who said she was the wife of a waterside worker, advanced down the middle of the hall to the foot of the stage, and harangued the Minister, the candidate, and the crowd. Replying to allegations that some workers on the wharves were being victimised, the Minister Invited the men concerned to write to him and put their case. He said he would have each case investigated.
