USE OF ORGANIC MANURES

MOVE FOR LIFTING OF RESTRICTIONS . (New Zealand Press Association) INVERCARGILL, November 1. A ’ recommendation that the Govern-: ment should be requested to abolish the Organic Fertiliser Regulations was adopted- at the annual conference of the New Zealand Fertiliser Merchants’ Distributors’ Federation, at Invercar4 gill today. According to a supplied report, it was felt that supplies of locally-manufactured organic manures appeared to be sufficient to meet all reasonable demands, and that the continuance of regulations restricting use to certain purposes for part of the year were now redundant. The annual report presented to the conference said that 846,000 tons of superphosphate and superphosphate compounds had been produced by New Zealand fertiliser works during the year. To meet the ever-increasing demand for locally-manufactured ma-, nures. new works were contemplated at Morrinsville and Tauranga, and possibly in Southland and Northland. To assist aerial topdressing, the report said, the establishment of bulk depots should be carried out where practicable. That would make a con-, siderable contribution to the continuous output from works, and would helo to solve delivery difficulties. Officers elected were:— . President, Mr D. Maze; vice-presi-dent. Mr C. W. D. Clark (Hamilton); council, Messrs J. Irving (New Plymouth). G. O. Craike (Hastings), H. D. May (Dunedin), Scott Colville (Auckland), G. McKav (Invercargill), and J. P. Noonan (Christchurch).
