INDOOR SINGLES TITLE The Canterbury Indoor bowls singles championships were completed over the week-end. The winner, K. R. Smith, of the Railway Club, played excellently throughout the section and post-sections, and was definitely on top in the final. The president of the Canterbury Association, Mr W. Wilmott, made the presentation of trophies won during the championships to the successful players. Results were:— Singles.—Quarter-finals: D. R. Fleming 6, M. Forsyth 5; S. McCartin 10, J. Noble 9; K. R. Smith 11, R. Pitcairn 10; N. E. Hocking 12, J. Lees 7. Semi-finals: N. E. Hocking 12, D. R. Fleming 10; K. R. Smith 13, S. McCartin 5. Final: K. R. Smith 12. N. E. Hocking 4. R.S.A. CLUB’S TROPHIES PRESENTED The annual prize-giving of the Returned Services’ Association Bowling Club was held in the club rooms at the week-end. The president of the Christchurch Bowling Centre (Mr G. MacDonald) presented trophies to the following:— Championship singles: J. Wilson; championsnip pairs. F. Davie and E. Elwood (skip): championship fours, J. Wilson A. J. McFarlane, N. McNab, C. Spearman (skip); colts, D. Costelloe; Syme cup, T. O’Brien; handicap singles, J. Goss; handicap pairs, J. Forrester and N. McNab (skip). Indoor section (Madsen shield): Canterbury Club. Bebbington shield (business firms): Buntings A team. / The women’s section was won by R.S.A. four, skipped by Mrs McLachlan.
