(From the London Correspondent of "The Press")
LONDON, September 24. In jewellery as well as fashion, the present trend towards the famous n^ nti J? s ”T is , bec °ming more prok* dre ®> we seem to be returning to the era of the low waist and the concealing cloche hat, with the h^k 1, rope ? ot pearls “d long, danghng earrings. In the hands of present-day designers, however, these fashions are modified and altered so tnat the result is new and wearable In Digby Morton’s autumn collection, colours are muted, the most frequently seen shade being a very soft grey-green, invariably worn with diamonds, the flash of the jewels being a perfect complement to the understated colour of the dresses. Huge solid gold bracelets were worn with most of the suits, (again of very muted colour) and outsize earrings for balance with the untrimmed cloche hats. Diamond, ruby and sapphire earwere worn to give added formality to the short evening dresses, ?H C °x m i n ? more and more popular for ail out the grandest social occasions. One particularly lovely ensemble consisting of a black dress, the skirt
flaring out just below the knees in the new “trumpet” line, was worn with a small hat of white feathers, diamond pendant earrings and two large d£mond bracelets. aia This collection demonstrated new ways of wearing brooches and clips Diamond sprays appeared on the cuffs ™ ♦£” v the topmost shoulder hl ? ? nd 3ust above the high-placed pockets.
