BANKS PENINSULA CLUB FORMER COMMODORE HONOURED Members of the Banks Peninsula Cruising Club held a social in the clubhouse at Lyttelton 'on Saturday evening to honour Lieutenant-Commander A. C. Lambert, who has retired from the position of com-
modore of the club. Lieutenant-Commander Lambert, who is relinquishing his appointment as officer-in-charge of H.M.N.Z.S. Tasman, is taking up farming at Ocean Bay, Port Underwood. There was an attendance of about 150 at the social, including members of other yacht clubs. They were welcomed by the new commodore (Mr S. J. Wearn). During the evening, Mr Wearn, on behalf of the members, presented Lieutenant-Com-mander Lambert with a precision instrument embodying a barometer, a hydrometer, a thermometer, and a compass in the form of a pylon. Mr Wearn thanked Lieutenant-Com-mander Lambert for many years of valuable service to the club. He presented him with a life member’s badge.
