HORSE BREAKS AWAY FROM JOGGER

An inquest was opened yesterday before the Coroner (Mr E. B. E. Taylor) into the death of John Kennedy Sloan, aged 42, a railway surfaceman, who was found dead in Racecourse road, Motukarara, about 6 p.m. on Thursday. Mr Sloan, a married man with three children, left his home in Motukarara about 5 pjn. on Thursday with a young trotter he was excercising in a jogger. The horse, which had broken free of the jogger, returned to the house about 6 p.m., and a search was made. Mr Sloan’s body was found in Racecourse road. He had suffered severe injuries. The jogger was found with its shafts broken.

The inquest was adjourned after evidence of identification had been taken.
