REPORT ON WORK AT LEPROSY HOSPITAL

Ninety patients have been discharged as cured from the central leprosy hospital at Makogai, near Suva, in the last few months. Some of them were from New Zealand’s Pacific dependencies. This was announced by the secretary of the New Zealand Lepers’ Trust Board (Mr P. J. Twomey) in a report from the island.

To date, 1221 patients havfe been discharged cured after treatment at Makogai. It is expected that another 51 patients will be discharged towards the end of this year.
