MAN’S DEATH AT NEW PLYMOUTH
NO MOTIVE FOUND FOR ASSAULT (New Zealand Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, October 1. No motive has yet been established for the assault on Robert Whale, who was found injured in his bach at Awanui street, New Plymouth, on Sunday, and died in hospital on Monday. Inspector F. N. Alpin, officer in charge of the Criminal Investigation Branch, Auckland, who arrived in New Plymouth yesterday to take charge of the investigation, said today that the police were still very busily engaged. The Auckland police pathologist, Dr. F. J. Cairns, left Auckland this morning for New Plymouth to make a further survey. It is understood he will revisit the bach at Awanui street.
