Spiritual Healing Demonstrated
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, Sept 26. Seventeen members of the Archbishop of Canterbury’s commission on divine healing were among 6000 people at the Albert Hall tonight who watched a demonstration of spiritual hearing by Mr Harry Edwards, aged 80, a former printer and stationer of Shere, Surrey. They said after the demonstration they would include their observations in their final report to the Archbishop on faith healing. After a short religMhs service whitecoated attendants helped arthritis sufferers, persons with curvature of the spine, and other patients from the audience on to the rostrum. Mr Edwards, a white-haired, short, stocky figure in shirtsleeves, asked each in turn to tell the audience through a microphone the nature pf his ailment and how long he had been ill.
He then selected an arthritis sufferer as the first patient for the “laying on of hands.” A few minutes later a man flexing his limbs told the audience this was the first time he had been able to do so for three years. He then walked from the rostrum without a stick.
Another patient, Mrs Olive Morris, of Hillingdon, Middlesex, also an arthritis sufferer, said after Mr Edwards attended to her: “This is the first time I have walked for five years.” Mr Edwards attended many other patients, breaking off the demonstration at one point to tell the audience: “This is a continuation of the work the Master began. It should be done in Canterbury Cathedral and all parish churches.”
