OBITUARY
MR H. J. JEFCOATE The death occurred on Saturday of Mr Henry John Jef coate, in his eightyfourth year. Mr Jefcoate had lived in Christchurch for 35 years and his chief interest was in St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, of which he was an elder. A sermon based on the Christian efforts and church work of Mr Jefcoate was given by the minister of St. Paul’s (the Rev. S. C. Francis) at Sunday’s service.
The other main interest of Mr Jefcoate was the Linwood Bowling Club. He was born in Pareora and he was in business as a blacksmith and coachbuilder in Invercargill froln 1896 to 1919, when he retired to live in Christchurch. On his retirement he had built up the largest coachbuilding business in Southland.
Mrs Jefcoate (formerly Miss Jessie D. Robisoh) died six years ago. The surviving children are Miss M. M. Jefcoate (Cambridge terrace), Mr H. O. Jefcoate (Greymouth), and Mrs E. M. McCullough (Stratford).
