French Moves To Free Trade
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) PARIS, September 25. France today announced an immediate increase in her level of free trade from 51 to 57 per cent. A Cabinet statement said that there would be a further increase of 8 per cent, before the end of November. This would mean that 65 per cent, of French imports would be freed from any quantitative restriction and would fulfil the Government’s promise to the Organisation for Economic Cooperation fO.E.C.C.). to raise the level of French trade liberalisation. Members of the O.E.E.C. criticised France for “dragging her heels” in the free trade field.
