FIRM PRICES AT TWO AUCTIONS (Rec. 11 p.m.) SYDNEY, Sept. 27. The wool market at the Sydney sale today ruled fully firm at the improved v ., ues established at Newcastle for all descriptions. Most of the wool carried heavy fault. The Continent, Britain and Japan were the chief buyers and they had some support from local mills and the United States. Of the 17,083 bales offered 16,906 were sold. The top Merino price was 1151 d for best 64/70’s with light burr. Crossbred prices included 103 d for good 60/ 64’s, 84d for good average 58/60’s with medium burr, 80Jd for good average 56’s with light burr, 64d for good average 50’s with light burr, and 56|d for good average 44/46’s. Melbourne result of today’s wool sale in Melbourne, compared with values at other centres last week, was most satisfactory. Comebacks aqd crossbreds were again in strong demand and values for broad comebacks and fine to strong crossbreds improved 2% per cent. Best style Merino fleece also sold in growers’ favour. There was a very satisfactory clearance of the 12,150 bales offered, and generally keen competition prevailed, the principal buyers being the Continent, Britain and local mills. Top''Merino price was 118 d for super 64/70’s. The best crossbred price was 107 d for good 60’s. Other prices included 90d for 58’s, 86d for 56’s and 80d for 50’s.
