APPEAL FOR REFUGEES IN INDO-CHINA
The North Canterbury centre of the Red Cross Society yesterday received * telegram from the society’s headquarters in Wellington reporting that the French Red Cross ha>! appealed to the League of the Red Cross in Geneva on behalf of thousand? of suffering in the Saigon area of Indo-Chma.
The secretary-general for New Zealand (Mr M. S. Galloway) intimated that he was issuing an appeal through the press and that the New Zealand society had voted £5OO to the appeal. He added that in view of the magnitude of the disaster, it had been decided to launch a public appeal as it was felt that immediate action
The chairman of the North CanterJ - Kincaid) said yesterday that donations or gifts for we appeal would be gratefuly reat the Cross depot, 105 a Cashel street, or could be sent to P.O. Box 217, Christchurch.
