(From the London Correspondent of “The Press”)
LONDON, August 27. Convertible and three-dimensional i jewellery was used effectively in the i autumn collections of Digby Morton 1 and Mattli. Magnificent new designs 1 valued at more than £50.000 were lent j to accent new trends in necklines and j to underline the new jewel colours of i some of the fabrics used. ] The diamond flower clip, a Royal s favourite, was shown worn high on i the neckline, or on the shoulder and the upper sleeves of several striking < day dresses. One three-dimensional 1 flower clip in baguettes and brilliants i was valued at £2OOO. Stars were also 1 popular and large diamond star clips ; were worn on the lapel of several of i Digby Morton's autumn suits. 1
Pearls and diamonds, a jewel fashion returning after several decades, were used for a parure which accented a lovely evening gown by Digby Morton. Pearls were chosen to accompany evening gowns of especially diaphanous materials. An evening gown in the new amethyst shade was complemented by a gold and amethyst suite of necklace and matching earrings. Even the hats were jewelled. Several showed a jewelled clip worn in the hat. repeated by a matching clip in the lapel, worn high on the throatline. One hat ornament was in the form of a gold flower spray with an identical gold flower spray worn in the lapel of the matching suit.
