CHRISTCHURCH FRENCH CLUB
The Christchurch French Club held its monthly meeting on Friday evening. Hostesses were Misses A. Robinson, B. Trenwith and P. Gros. The programme included a trio, Misses A. Robinson (piano), Romola Griffiths (violin), and Marjorie Chapman (’cello) playing excerpts from the “Copellia’’ ballet music of Delibes, two pieces by Chamenade, and French folk songs. Miss A. Robinson read from the “Revue des Deux Mondes,” a letter to the United States, reviewing the present position of France in the world and the general American opinion about her. Mr T. Forrest (tenor), accompanied by Miss S. Sutherland (piano), sang two Faure songs.
