NATIONAL WOMEN’S TOURNAMENT

CANTERBURY WINS FIRST GRADE CUP (New Zealand Press Association) HASTINGS, Aug. 29. Canterbury, unbeaten throughout the tourney, won the New Zealand cup at the New Zealand women’s outdoor basketball tournament at Hastings on Saturday. In the final match, Canterbury beat last year’s winner, Auckland. Auckland and Hawke’s Bay tied for second place, and hold the Annie Brown cup. In the second grade, Rotorua won the President’s shield by a margin of one point from Hutt Valley and South Cantertjury, which tied for the Hayhurst cup.
