The Maori had his first Australian win at Rosehill yesterday, when he won the Second Three-year-old Maiden. The Maori was always well placed on the rails, and at the home turn his jockey, N. Sellwood, sent him through an opening. He then stalled off a challenge by Canny Chiel to win narrowly. _ A £? y c ?l t by Mi d-Day Sun from Lady Ox, The Maori was bred in New Zealand by Mr W. Fisher. Telyar was hailed as a potential Derby winner after his effortless three-length win in the Second Parramatta Stakes. Finishing brilliantly along the inside rail from seventh at the turn, Telyar won as he liked. , Arabic was beaten by a length by Electro in the Rosehill Handicap. Arabic , was lying sixth at the turn, and made a great run in the straight, looking a likely danger to Electro, but he was anchored by his weight. Results:— SECOND THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN, Of £BOO.
