Clash In Cairo Streets
(Rec. 8 p.m.) CAIRO, August 28. Egyptian police and members of the Moslem brotherhood fought in Cairo streets today after a Brotherhood leader allegedly called on a congregation of Sherif Mosque in Cairo’s old quarter to oppose the Government
Some 20 persons, including several policemen, were hurt. After prayers, the Brethren went into the streets and attacked policemen Standing by in readiness to quell any disturbances.
It was the first Brotherhood demonstration since political and religious organisation was renounced last week by the Egyptian Prime Minister, Lieutenant-Colonel Gamel Nasser, for seeking power and not promoting Islam.
The Brotherhood was once before under a temporary ban by the present Egyptian Government.
