England scored 12 tries to three to rout Southern District by 66 points to 21 in its second last Rugby League match of the tour, yesterday. Only 3000 persons watched the match, although organising officials had expected a crowd of 10,000 for the Englishmen’s first appearance here this season. England’s full-back, Lewis Jones, kicked 15 goals. He broke the French full-back Puig-Aubert’s 1951 record of 238 points for an Australasian tour. Jones needed only one goal when he took the field, but kicked 11 from his first 11 attempts before missing. Jones kicked his last four attempted to make 15 from 17 attempts. This remarkable performance gained him 265 points so far on the tour and 29 points ahead of Aubert’s record.
