TRAP SHOOTING

Christchurch Gun Club The annual teams match (seven shooters a team of 10 birds each) for the Vale Shield was held by local clubs in conjunction with the 21 yards rise club championship on the Christchurch Gun Club’s grounds recently. Eight teams competed and 36 shooters shot off with two extra birds for the club championship. Conditions were fair. The shield match was won outright by the Belfast Gun Club’s No. 1 team with 52, and Ellesmere No. 1 and No. 2 teams scored 50 points each. The best individual scores were:—J. F. Parkin, G. M. Doyle, F. Alexander, F. L. Graham. V. J. Payne, 9 points; N. Inwood, F. Inwood, T. Everett, W. L. Gabbie, C. R. Ogier, A. W. Fraser, S. Bennett, A. J. Thomson, I. Boyce, A. Inwood, K. D. Smith, 8. Those with nine on divided the optional sweepstake held in conjunction with the match. The club championship, with two extra

birds, resulted in an outright win by the youngest shooter on the field, V. J. Payne, with 11 out of 12 at the twelfth round. Ten shot off for second place, J. F. Parkin winning on the seventh round of the shoot-off. The winner was presented with the cup to hold until 1955 and received a trophy order of £3 3s and the runner-up a trophy .order for £1 Is. The winner also took first prize money in the club optional sweep. F. Inwood, C. R. Ogier, G. M. Doyle, T. Everett, W. L. Gabbie, A. J. Tomson, I Boyce, A. W. Fraser, F. L. Graham, and J. F.
