NEWS FOR WOMEN Smart, Attractive Dresses At Trotting Club Meeting

The New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club's Grand National meeting opened at Addington on -Saturday in almost ideal conditions, with mild, calm weather and a very good attendance. , The keenly-contested races aroused great Enthusiasm in "the Jar&e crowd, and the. music of the Woolston Brass Band pleasantly filled the intervals between races. The dressing of the women patrons was, on the whole, smart and attractive. Many suits were Worn, and pleated skirts challenged slim straight skirts for highest popularity. Coats, which were favoured by many, were gay in colour and Idose fitting 1 . Some were red, others were green, with a few of yellow, but many remained faithful to blue and black. Only a few wide-brimmed hats appeared, women generally choosing snug-fitting small hats, lightly trimmed Wives of officials of the dub and guests who enjoyed the day’s racing were Mrs C. E. Hoy (wife of the president), Mrs A. L. Matson (wife of the president of the New Zealand Trotting Conference), Mrs C. S. Thomas (wife of the honorary treasurer of/the club), Mesdames W. Milne Shand, W. E. Desmond, O. Hutchinson, J. Palmer, H. E. Cook, G. W. Blaxall, T. S. Harrison. E. F. Nicoll, Wellwood, jun., S. J. Moore, and C. P. Agar.

Stevenson (Upper Hutt), a prominent member of the Woman's Division of Federated Farmers, ’who accompanied Mrs I. L. M. Coop, Mrs K Talbot of Temuka, who was with her father, Dr. Arthur Sandston, and Mrs L. Dailey, of Auckland. Among the many others present were Mrs A. E. Smith and her daughter-in-law, Mrs K.B.
