FOUR CHALLENGE GAMES WON
After winning the Ranfurly Shield from Wellington by 24 points to 3 last year Canterbury beat Buller by 19 points to 3. This season the shield has been successfully defended against thq challenges of:— Southland, 18-10. Wairarapa, 16-3. South Canterbury, 24-11. The. remaining challenges for the year are as follows: August 28, Waikato. September 4, Taranaki. September 11, West Coast September 18, Otago. September 22, Wanganui. September 35, Buller.
