New Zealanders Best Contributors (I{.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 7 p.m.) NEW YORK, August 11. New Zealand, the highest per capita contributor to the United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund in 1953, had made a 1954 contribution 50 per cent, greater, it was announced today. UNICEF, the specialised agency which aids children throughout the world, said that New Zealand had contributed 210,000 dollars this year.

New Zealand’s contribution last year of 140,000 dollars averaged about 8d a person on a per capita basis, compared with about lid this year. The second largest per capita contribution in 1953 came from the United States, which averaged six cents (about 6sd) a person. Contributions to UNICEF’s 1954 fund now total 3,478,909 dollars from 37 nations.
