CURE FOR TYPHOID FEVER.—Dr. Albert E. Heustis (left), State Health Commissioner in Michigan, has announced that Michigan State health laboratories, under the direction of Dr. G. D. Cummings (right), have developed what he described as the first known cure for typhoid fever. Dr. Heustis said that the treatment is a new antibiotic called synnematin and has been under development for more than five years. Dr. Cummings is now in Mexico, where the new drug has been under test on human beings for the last two months and is reported to have produced complete cures in 16 cases.
