AUCKLAND CARGO WORKERS

PRESIDENT CONFIRMED IN OFFICE (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, August 11. A secret ballot by members of the Auckland Cargo Workers’ Union confirmed Mr W. G. Swabey in office as president. At a special meeting last week it was decided to hold the ballot after allegations had been made that Mr Swabey had hot upheld union policy at a special meeting of the North Island Waterfront Workers’ Association to discuss affiliation with the Federation of Labour. Mr Swabey was returned to office bv a margin of 53 votes. There are 41 postal votes still to be received. but» they can not affect the result. There were 1045 votes cast.
